When the open rate is too low or non-existent it can be due to several reasons:
Open tracking was not enabled: When you schedule a campaign you have the option to enable open and click trackings. If you don't see any opens in the campaign statistics it is possible that you forgot to enable open tracking.
The tracking image has not been loaded: Usually, we can register if a contact has opened a mailing thanks to a transparent image that is loaded in the email when the contact opens it. If the user has deactivated by default the display of images in their email reader, we will not be able to count the opening, unless they click on a link.
The message is too heavy: Some mobile mail readers and Gmail show only part of the message when they are too heavy. To see the full message, the user must click on the "View full message" or "Download full message" link that these clients add. If the user does not see the full message, or clicks on a link, we will not be able to track it and the open will not be counted.
It is a plain text campaign: If the campaign is not in HTML format, you will not be able to track opens and you will only be able to know if a user has opened your email if they click on a link.
You haven't given your users enough time: Wait a few hours after sending your campaign to check the number of opens. Not all users who receive your newsletter open it as soon as they receive it. Give them time!
