SMSC

The acronym SMSC stands for Short Message Service Center.

The SMSC is responsible for centralising all SMS messages that are sent over a mobile network. When the message leaves the recipient's phone, the SMSC manages its delivery to the receiver or stores it so that the message can be delivered later if, for some reason, the receiver's phone is not available at that time.
